Hello! I've been working with a reporter for a few months. Not too long ago we had a rush job of over 200 pages that I worked overnight to complete. Other than that, most everything has been completed with a regular turn around. The last payment I received was in October. Here it is December, and I haven't been paid in about a month and a half. I understand and appreciate the possibility of not getting paid myself until the reporter gets paid. I get that; I accept that. The issue for me, however, is that I've turned away jobs from other reporters because the workload has been so steady from her, and I didn't want to be late getting a job back to her by taking on something from someone else. I'm owed approximately $1600 from this one reporter alone. I have very little money for Christmas because I've been working to save money so that I can get gifts for my family. I also understand that you can't get water from a stone, and I've been told that payments that are being sent are being post dated. I don't want to burn this bridge, but I'm feeling really stressed about money at this point. Have any of you run into this, and if so, how did you handle it?
TIA!

Hi Whillow,
I was scouting the site and ran into this message forum. I'm not sure this will reach you since I notice you posted it almost 3 years ago. At any rate, should you be reading this, I've come into the same problem as you. However, the difference with me is I just started working with this reporter and it's my first time getting paid from her. I scoped two jobs, one of which was an expedite, it was a very hard job, lots of steno and medical terminology. I completed it and now here I am 3 weeks later, no pay, no return phone calls/texts/emails. She basically has stood me up. Got her jobs and is not showing any signs of paying me. She emailed me to say she ran into a financial situation and would pay as soon as she could. I understand your stress and frustration. Does stuff like this happen alot?? It's a shame. You can't trust anyone.
